Maria has earned her AA degree from Fullerton College. Commencement ceremonies were Wednesday night. (Photos online now.) They carefully scheduled the event so their official photographer can get photos of the grads in daylight as they come off the stage, but it's dark as soon as the ceremony's over so the family photos are crap. I wish I'd thought to find her in the line pre-ceremony, like I did for her high school graduation! Oh well, I'll remember that for next time. She's taking one more class (a yoga class) over the summer to get one more transfer credit to qualify for her entry into the University of California system. Her first choice is still UCLA, and UC Irvine is back in second place again; she won't know if UCLA wants her until after the cutoff date to get her non-refundable deposit into UCI, so she's a little cranky about that. (I told her to consider the extra $100 the premium for getting the college she wants; I'd expect her to be even crankier if getting her second-choice hotel cost her more money...)I've got to drive to Baycon and Fanime tonight. A peculiar thing - Craige posted a note to SMOFS saying he was off to Fanime at the San Jose Hilton, but that hotel's not listed as one of that convention's sites. Guess I'll puzzle it out after I get there. I know how to find Baycon's hotel, so I'm going to go there first and then check out Fanime on Saturday or Sunday. Double-convention weekend, whee!
