My Anime Expo pictures from Sunday have all their captions ready, to the extent that my notes allow.

After lunch on Friday at Armadillocon 26, library_lynn and I got to work hanging all of the Fan Gallery photos. I learned later that there had been a history exhibit at Armadillocon 25, showcasing the twenty-five years of Armadillocon, so having another history exhibit like the Fan Gallery worked out really well. We showed photos of 197 fans - about 51% of the total collection. (The entire exhibit will be on display at Noreascon 4, the Worldcon in Boston.)

library_lynn was a great help. I also got some help from one of Neal Barret Jr.'s assistants, whose name escapes me. (I may have written the name down somewhere -- we'll see when I have those photos online.)

Friday afternoon there was a panel at 5:00 called "Welcome to Armadillocon." This was not the "Opening Ceremonies" (which were at 7 o'clock). But "Welcome to Armadillocon" told us the audience a lot of the ways Armadillocon is different from other conventions. While Armadillocon doesn't have a film program, or a masquerade, it does have lots and lots of author readings, and a live band for the Saturday dance which is their big event during the convention.

After "Welcome to Armadillocon" library_lynn and I slipped over to the hotel restaurant for a leisurely dinner with service that was almost worth waiting for. We ran into Earl "Shiva" Cooley, the webmaster from the last Texas Worldcon (Lone Star Con 2, in 1997), and I snapped a few pictures of him for the Fan Gallery. And I barely made it out of there in time for the Opening Ceremonies.
