Sarah's in town. She's off school for a week (Spring Break).
She came down off the hill to go to
divine_sage's birthday party,
shop in downtown Los Angeles for costume and prom needs,
see Caitlin Postal's
school production of Grease, and possibly go to the picnic.
She got out of school early Friday afternoon, went to the nearby Amtrak
station and took the Ambus down to Los Angeles and Metro Rail Red Line
(subway) to North Hollywood.
ladymaxstarr picked her up
there and took her to Westlake High School for the play -- which turned
out to be Melissa's high school, so she got to see the old place and be
recognized by a teacher or two.
library_lynn and I had arranged that she'd stay at our house
over the weekend, so Friday night after the play we met at Coral Cafe in
Burbank. As it turns out,
friendlypinet was just leaving
when he saw me walk in, so we had fun times and learned about his gig as
emcee for the Orange County Music Awards.
Fred Lazzelle (left) called the house recently, because the landline is what's listed for
missmea in the
lasfs directory. He was looking for
Maria to offer her a ticket for Knott's Berry Farm admission, plus a meal ticket for a chicken-dinner
lunch, for Saturday.
It seems that Fred's in a forestry association, and he was given six passes for the day, and had been trying everyone he could think of to make sure the tickets didn't go to waste. Maria was not able to commit to coming or not, and finally cancelled Friday night -- which left Fred with two admissions that would just go to waste, beause Maria wasn't the only person who couldn't go.
Since Sarah had never been to Knott's before, it seemed like it might make a nice treat for her. But we had two tickets -- and I really didn't want to send Sarah to prowl a strange theme park on her own.
Some frantic phone-calls to see who was up for a last-minute trip to Knott's ended up with her friend
Mina driving down from Valencia, with her bf. It turns out that I didn't
need to worry that much about Sarah wandering around the park
unchaperoned, because Janis Olson (right) was part
of the gang and I asked her to take Sarah under her wing until Mina showed
up.
So that's what I did early Saturday morning: drove to Knott's Berry Farm
and dropped off Sarah. Lynn and I went back six hours later, to pick her
up again. (left)
Next: A picnic at Pearson Park.
