I talked to somebody over Baycon/FanimeCon weekend about ribbons. I was handing out ribbons that said Fan Boy, Fan Girl, Cheesecake, Sunnydale Visitors Bureau, and so forth. I also handed off some to other people to hand out, for example Kevin & Andy handed out the Gender Outlaw ribbons, and I let the Internet Lounge people hand out Friends of Tux. (Credit goes to "Rain" of ConFusion [the one in Michigan] for the Gender Outlaw ribbon idea.) It's more fun when I can have other people hand out ribbons, although of course it does get a little expensive. (The ribbons can cost up to 35 cents each to order.)

And I told this person -- whose name I've forgotten, and which I didn't write down in my little notebook -- that I'd be putting in another ribbon order soon, and I'd be happy to let them piggyback off my order.

Who was that person? Was it you?

The revised art looks great... but I'm worried that that extra $10/20 could break the camel's back. I'm in the midst of a painfully extended bout of unemployment. :-<

I had been thinking 100 ribbons (for the Guests; let's forget the Cast/Crew for the time being -- not necessary).

"EitE" would *probably* be recognizable to *most* of the people reading [livejournal.com profile] eric_in_elevatr... but part of the point is to get the word out. So, your point is well taken.

As for when I need them: definitely by next [livejournal.com profile] baycon. The question mark is whether I'd be planning to do another screening party at LosCon (using the same footage I used a few weeks ago). Also, if you *didn't* put in another order next winter, and I missed the boat completely, I'd be sad.

Let's just do 100 ribbons:
Text: "Eric in the Elevator" (it can be the same serif font that the rest use, if necessary, but I'd prefer sans serif if available, and Comic Sans would be uber-nifty, but I don't really expect them to have it)
Printing: Green foil print (if it contrasts enough to be readable; if not, silver or gold [in decreasing order of preference])
Cloth: Medium green field.

I'll scrape together the $25 one way or another.

P.S.: Thank you for your profound patience -- and for ribbonizing in the first place!!!

Does it make a difference whether or not they are considered "camera-ready"?

I am trying to decide if I really need two different kinds of ribbon. Leaning against getting just one variety (although making a few of them a different color makes it slightly tempting).

I am leaning towards Design #1 -- will they be able to do Comic Sans? If they can do it without "camera-ready art" with a different sans-serif font, then I think I'd rather have that many (how many?) more ribbons than have Comic Sans.

What does the ribbon company consider to be "emerald green"? %-} Do they have a color sampler online? Will the metallic green print show up well enough on it?

Z

P.S.: Got my "Silly Ribbon" ribbon, as did my friend, with your assistance. ;-D Actually, [livejournal.com profile] zahraa didn't want the one I'd gotten for her, so I may save it for BayCon or LosCon.

P.P.S.: Looks like this makes 4,000 comments for me. %-} Yay, stupid stat-watching!

150 ribbons! ::happy dance:: D0000000000000d! ;-D Thank you for choosing to "spend" that on me (I imagine that you had several orders vying for your attention)!

You sent me email asking for a mailing address; I'd thought I sent that already. Is [last syllable of your LJ ID] @ [domain where the Gallery lives] not a good address for you? (I didn't see one on your profile.)

Thank you big-time! As I've said before[*], "All hail [livejournal.com profile] hazelchaz! ;-D

I do, in fact, trust you; nonetheless, I am very persnickety about shades of green: I don't like them too dark, too drab, or too "army". %-} I'd like to see the samples, if I could.

I figure I'd do 25 of the "cast & crew" color, and 125 of the "guests & fans" color. Whatever those turn out to be. I'm more likely, I think, to make the larger proportion the green-on-green -- assuming that the combo is actually readable.

Z

P.S.: I did send mail to chaz, at the hyphenated domain. Did you not get it?

Smaller number be green-on-green: ooh, actually, I think that's a good idea, for two reasons.

1. The green-on-green is special, and for me (okay, and the rest of the cast/crew types).
2. If the combination doesn't work, I can always wear 1 of each ribbon, for greater legibility. :-D

Z

P.S.: Thank you for mailing those to me! I'll have them back to you well before LosCon, I think.
