Yes, I see your point. Clearly the membership saw it as a benefit to have the con-suite sponsored, and saw it as an extension of the convention. From the point of view of the committee, as I see it (and remember I was not privy to a lot of convention business), the convention was going to have the con-suite close at 7pm, and your contribution was to host a party, not operate as a con-suite. Considering the people involved I'm not terribly suprised at the outcome.
*I* at least appreciate that you were able to serve the attendees by hosting the con-suite. Next year I can even help you with the party.
