Seven lonely days and a dozen times ago I reached out one night and you were gone. Don't know why
Worldcon question: who from outside North America is going to
inter_action, and would like to play with some ribbons?
I thought it might be interesting to bring some silly ribbons and have other people hand them out.
flickgc,
flyingsauce,
sneerpout and all the rest of you: whaddya say?
I've got a particular style set aside for Lucy Z. and/or Zara B., since it was their idea in the first place, and I was thinking that Alice Lawson might want to hand out the "Sunnydale Visitors Bureau." And I'll drop off "2nd Generation Fan" (3rd, 4th) with
jamesb for his department. But that still leaves a number of others to share. Any UK or european filkers in the audience, for example?
Speaking of sharing, I'm bringing some Kentucky Bourbon Fudge to share. (Hence the song referenced above.) Made by genuine Trappist monks, in fact. Stop me and ask for a bit.
Server update:
dd_b says it looks like a drive controller failure that took everything down. Recovery looks promising for most of the site, although there's still some uncertainty about my twenty-eight kilophotos. In other news, www.lasfs.org is back on the air, having been relocated to Scott Beckstead's server, and for the time being www.loscon.org goes to the same web page. And I'm going ahead with signing up with Dreamhost to host some websites I'm in charge of, like the Fan Gallery and
animelosangeles. (Which are both sponsored by organizations that have a budget.) Funny thing about Dreamhost -- they're local, about five miles from my house. (
dd_b, I put down "dd-b" in the referral space.)

You doing any Hogwarts Alumni ones this year? Cos, having posted more on my LJ about HP than anything else, and organising a Purely Potter Party, I can't see anyone better suited to give them out...
Hogwarts Alumni?

Re: Ribbons
But if you'd prefer one of the other styles -- see my other post, below -- or "Glomp Me!", for that matter -- it's not too late to make up your mind.

Ribbons
Fan Boy, Fan Girl, Silly Ribbon, Evil Smof, Good Smof, Friends of Tux, Gender Outlaw, Straight but not Narrow, Flexible, Vanilla Pride, Hot Bi-Polar Babe, Immortalized in Song, Tuckerized, Jailbait, Live Journal, Sourpuss and Crankyface, Browncoat.
Just a few of these: First Church of Roscoe, Foofooist, Seekers of Ghu, Old Phart.
Plus a few others; I'm looking for a Scot (Sparks, are you listening?) or anyone involved with Interthingy.org, and I've got "Ribbon Slut" but those will probably be handed out late in the game...

Trappist Monks: The Abbey of Gethsemani, in Kentucky (Trappist, Kentucky, in fact; it's near Elizabethtown, which is near a major junction of two freeways) is home to about a hundred monks, that do the traditional monk thing.
Among those, they work to make things that they can sell to the outside world. Like cheese, for example. But they won't ship the cheese during the summer -- if you want Trappist Cheese from Kentucky, you have to wait, or go there yourself.
They also use some local bourbon (they don't say exactly which whiskey, but the nearest major distillery is Maker's Mark) in their fruitcake, which is very moist and I'm told quite delicious. But I'm not a big fruitcake fan... And they make fudge. Chocolate fudge with walnuts, and vanilla fudge with pecans (or maybe it's the other way around), and both flavored with bourbon.
Nummy stuff. Delicious. I Want to have some, but my doctor won't want me eating the whole box. Therefore I'll bring some to share. (Possibly to use as bread-and-butter gifts if we end up staying in someone's guest room, like Sue Mason's for example.)

Also did you get the message about http://www.maria-rodriguez.com/ being back on the air?
Assuming that you're not going to NASFiC
Anyways, this reminds me to talk to you about replenishing my ribbon supply. I "need"[*] more by either LosCon or SiliCon. No biggie if I don't have them by NASFiC; I'm not doing EitE activities there...

P.S.: * -- Hah.
Re: Assuming that you're not going to NASFiC
We'll be in UK for two and a half weeks. We'll be back in California for 14 days, then off to Seattle for NASFiC.
I'll probably put in an order while I'm back. Get me your info by 19 August.
Re: Assuming that you're not going to NASFiC
Hey, look, it's well before August 19th -- and I'm still me! %-}
Thanx!!!
Z
P.S.: Do you happen to know anybody who needs to split a NASFiC room?
Re: Assuming that you're not going to NASFiC
Split a room... maybe...
