Spray painted two 4'x2' sheets of 3/16" pegboard with black paint. Tomorrow I'll paint the 6'4" piece (the one for MidAmeriCon II), and build the HAPPY HALLOWEEN sign. I can make HAPPY a different color from the HALLOWEEN (example, red and clear) so I may try that.

The Loscon Party sign was made with 1/8" pegboard. This stuff is not only 50% thicker but I also think the holes are bigger. I'll find out when I start putting lights through the holes. I may not need to enlarge the holes with my ice pick. This also may mean it'll be easier to reuse the pegboard and re-string the signs.

Thinking about the lights I bought today, and the discovery that the spacing is about 2.5" on average. This means that the 3" spacing I had on a couple of my designs (like the TACO PARTY sign won't work. (It's not a tragedy, because I can just skip a light if I only need 98 of the lights on that strand anyway.)

The two "TACOS" sign designs don't have the problem that the TACO PARTY sign has, so I'm not worried there. But the "N. O. LA 2018" party needs to have the gap around the periods narrowed. Here's a rendering of that sign, for a 4'x2' pegboard. There are 100 lights indicated with white, and 98 marked with yellow.

The problem with my first set of designs is that there's a 3-inch gap from the N to the II. The lights are about 2.5" apart, and we can't skip a light (giving us 5" in slack) because the design uses 200 complete 100-light strands.

So what do you think of removing two lights elsewhere, and putting a dot between the N and the II?
After
or maybe another dot after as well?
