November Squeals
Nov. 1st, 2011 11:37 pmFinished stuffing all of the envelopes. A little more than half of the November Costumer's Guild West newsletters will be postmarked the 2nd of November -- the latest I've ever mailed out the issues. This is as good a time as any to mention that this is my last term. 9 more issues to go.
I don't think I mentioned this here on LiveJournal, so let me explain: In the summer of 2010, I was elected to the post of "Corresponding Secretary" of CGW, Inc. This is a position on the Board of Directors -- yes, I now sit on the boards of three different 501(c)(3) non-profits -- and the tradition of CGW is that this post publishes the monthly newsletter of the club, Squeals From Da Ghodfuzzy.
So, in case you're keeping score: I've been pubbing my ish since the October 2010 issue. (If you're a fanzine fan and want a sample of this clubzine, drop me a line. Let me know if you're a Beatles or a Disney parks fan...)
If you look at the run of the newsletter, you can easily see when I took over. I've been printing a color photo on the cover of each issue, instead of the front being plain black & white text.
It's been taking a lot of my "spare" time, though, and I can't keep up the pace and all my other interests and obligations. So I'll see it through to the end of my term -- that would be with the August 2012 issue -- and turn it over to whoever they elect to take on the task.
Here's what I printed in my Editorial section:

We'll sing in the sunshine. We'll laugh every day. We'll sing in the sunshine, then I'll be on my way.
I will never love you. The cost of love's too dear. But though I'll never love you, I'll stay with you one year.
[“We'll Sing in the Sunshine” by Gale Garnett, 1964.]
It's not too early to start thinking about whether you would like to take on editing Squeals from Da Ghodfuzzy, starting next summer.
