Whirlwind report: I made it home from Tulsa on Wednesday, went to Coral Cafe and sorted out ribbons Thursday night, then drove to San Francisco Friday for AOD (fka Anime Overdose). Drove home Sunday, stayed up late getting Maria's computer updated and her ipod loaded; Monday pre-dawn went to airport with
library_lynn and Maria and drove the car home without them (and went back to bed). At work in afternoon, got word that they'd made it safely to Duluth; meanwhile, I've booked my room and tickets for Sacramento where I'll be Tuesday night. (Extended Stay America in Elk Grove, to be precised.) Anyone in Sacto. want to meet for a bheer or a milkshake Tuesday night? Call my cell, 714-20-MANGY.
Wednesday night I'll be home in my own bed, alone; Thursday night I expect I'll be at Coral Cafe sorting ribbons again... (Remind me to fly when I'm going solo to the Barea. Parking at the hotel was $45, plus there's gas, and my copious free time.)
AOD was where I introduced two of the new ribbons that I won't be bringing to
laconiv. It looks like "I'm just pretending to be underage" is a keeper, even if it wasn't usually applied to a "cosplay jailbait" situation. I also hung out in open mic Karaoke Saturday night, and passed out a few "Karaoke Addict" ribbons to people when they finished their songs.
bovil, did you know that the CC26 flyers that were at AOD don't include the phrase "Costume Con 26" anywhere on the sheet?
neo_serenity says she might be able to handle the Costume Repair Station for Friday (25 August) at L.A.con IV; I'm giving her one of my spare memberships. Thanks, Tiffany! I hope I'll see you this weekend. I'm going to be at the SoCal anime cosplay picnic in Laguna Niguel on Saturday, then hanging out with the
rum_group gang in Riverside.

Date: 2006-08-10 05:39 am (UTC)Duties are modest: Friday morning the 25th at 10:00 am be at the convention center to talk to Maria, if you haven't already, and to sit the Costume Repair Station area all day. You don't need to bring anything for that, we've got it all covered; the Costume Repair Station is open Wed.-Sun., and we have equipment and lots of fix-it supplies for it.
You'll be able to pick up your badge anytime after 3:00 pm on Monday the 21st, two days before the convention starts.
More later.
