A few years back, a company got a new logo and color scheme. The new head of marketing designed new business cards for most of the white-collar employees. The cards were all white, with the new logo and so forth printed on the front. The back was blank.

One of the engineers pointed out that the card was glossy, front and back. The most effective way to make a note on the card would be to use a permanent felt marker such as a Sharpie. An ordinary pen or pencil wouldn't work. The head of marketing explained that their boss had picked this particular slick card stock from the samples they had provided, so it couldn't be changed.

Engineer asks, were there any matte-finish papers in those samples?

In other news, I've finished 117 of my thank-you cards for the staff and volunteers of the convention I chaired.
