More about Saturday at Coppercon. (
nolly and I had driven out on the late-night run, and missed Friday entirely.) In the morning we ran into her friends Cheryl Martin and Jay Denebeim at the breakfast service, and then we picked up our badges. Ed Green was already there, promoting Loscon. Liz Mortensen should get the credit for taking Loscon on the road, and the continued efforts of successive Loscon chairs have kept Loscon visible in the eyes of Arizona, San Diego, and SF BArea fandom; it has paid off, as we've seen an increase in people from out of town coming in for Loscon. So Ed was there. His theme for Loscon this year was "Escape to L.A.", referring to the fact that this was the first Loscon in Los Angeles, after being resident in Burbank for 11 years (1993-2003). Loscon was going back to the L.A. Airport Marriott, which it had been at once before (1992). But that's another story.
Coppercon is a sort of relaxing break of a convention to taper off after attending Worldcon. (For those who can't just go cold-turkey after Worldcon.)
