One of the parties at Baycon I didn't get to hang around and check out thoroughly was "Heisenberg's Attic" which was some kind of a mini-LARP. Can anyone post and tell me what it was like and how it went?Uploaded another batch of photos - Baycon Sunday Evening, the photo at right is of "Mr. Graves" at the "Heisenberg's Attic" party. Still working on getting the new name cross-reference engine up; the work is going well, but I've got to get to work in the morning so I'm knocking off for now.
I'm amazed

Date: 2004-06-07 12:15 pm (UTC)And I'm a programmer by trade, so I've built a few tools to help with the process and speed it along. One program I wrote myself that helps a great deal is the one that automatically creates thumbnails and viewable-size images, which I built using the GD Graphics Library by Thomas Boutell.
The rest of the stuff I've written is mostly Perl programs to do things like bulk renaming and renumbering. (One handy program I use all the time simply takes two same-length lists of filenames and when one line is different from the corresponding line in the other list, it renames the file.)
I switch off between writing programs for Windows and Unix, which I can do easily because GD is available in source packages on either platform, and I got the "Active State" Perl for Windows which I use a lot. The server, of course, is a Unix box.
Granted, if you're not a programmer, the only thing that'll help you in this message is the link to Irfanview. But you should certainly try it out.
I use that!

Heisenberg's Attic
Date: 2004-06-07 02:00 pm (UTC)I am somewhat sad to have missed it; OTOH, I have trouble thinking of how I could *possibly* have had more fun than the ego-bask of the EitE screening. %-}

P.S.: When I get caught up on my LJ entries, I am *SO* linking to your pix. Are you done with Sunday? I am trying to remember whether you took one of myself and Beth, with signage...?
