So, I'm stepping down as chair of the convention I started in 2005. For the past four weeks I've been working on writing thank-you letters to everyone who was on staff or volunteered this January. I have 539 to write, and I've finished 206 of them as of this moment. These are the volunteers that made the convention happen, and the very least I can do is thank them for it.

I can tell you some of the tricks I use to keep the task from being tediously repetitive. The important one, I think, is that I sort them by name, rather than by department. (And I tend to shuffle up them a handful at a time as I go.) It's really difficult to write five or fifteen letters in a row thanking people for staffing the same department and changing it up each time!
