So, after spending two nights at ConDor, I came home and slept in my own bed. I also packed for another business trip to Indiana. We're working on this project, and sometimes I need to meet with other people.
( I took the last plane out Monday, to Indianapolis, and rented a car. Car's got some pickup... )
The people I was meeting showed me an interesting project: a hospital bed for Intensive Care Units. The mattress was selectively inflatable, you could push a button and it would slowly inflate one side of the bed if you needed to, say, turn the patient on his or her right side. It also had plenty of sensors so it can tell if the patient moves, or gets out of bed, or anything like that. Telemetry for weight and vital sign sensors, things like that.
Eric, one of the guys I met there, had this interesting clock on this
desk. It's called a TIX
Color Code Clock and unlike my little blue binary BCD clock, it's
a lot easier to read. (I think his had green lights instead of one of
the blue sections, and I don't remember seeing the first section light
up.) This image shows the clock reading 12:39.
On the way back, I was booked on the first flight home Friday morning. So Thursday night I stayed at the Comfort Inn not far from the airport. In fact, I think it was the second-closest to the new terminal.
(This business trip came at an awkward time for me and
library_lynn, because she's recovering from having a mole
removed on her back. Abnormal, but not cancer. She needs to have
her
bandage changed twice a day, and can't lift anything over 10 lbs. for a
while. I'm not going out of town without her again until AniZona,
though, which I believe is after the stitches come out.)
Chorizo burrito count: I'm never passing through Denver in the morning, so when I changed planes for my flight to Indianapolis I just had the three-taco plate at Cantina Grill. But on the way back, I got my burrito at Qdoba in Indy, and another one at the Blue Burrito Cafe at Phoenix airport, because it was still morning in both time zones. The chorizo was dried out, though -- didn't drip or anything -- so not quite the juicy satisfying experience I get from Sombrero in San Diego. *Sigh* Oh, and I spotted a likely-looking hole-in-the-wall taqueria in Columbus, but didn't have the time to investigate it. If I get back that way...
Friday and Saturday night the weekend before I was at the Handlery Hotel in San Diego, Sunday night in my own bed, Monday-Wednesday night in the hotel in Columbus IN, Thursday night in Indy. Four different beds in a week. Friday I was back in California, but I wouldn't be sleeping at home just yet.
Ordinarily I'd have photos for you -- but I left my camera in Indiana! They're shipping it back, it should be here at the office tonight or tomorrow morning.
So that brings me up to Friday a week ago. Almost back to near-realtime blogging!
