Catherine Marie Patterson is now happily married (left).
( This was a wedding I wouldn't have missed for worlds. [more...] )
So, the wedding. Mesa, Arizona, at
The Wright House which is a lovely property.
I stopped off at a teacher's supply store to find some more badge stickers on the way there, and
got there by about 2:00 pm, an hour before the scheduled start time. There was a string quartet
("Tomano Quartet" - too many notes). The ceremony was lovely. Catherine was
hopping up and down with anticipation by the time they got through the "I will/I do" part and were
moving onto the rings. She told me that I'd been right about a piece of advice I'd given her,
years ago.
She said that I'd told her, when she was despairing of finding a good man, to learn to be happy with herself and who she was. Once she got to that point, being a complete person on her own, she'd find someone, or he'd find her, or they'd find each other. And that's exactly how it turned out.
I
knew I was going to this wedding. I'd originally envisioned driving, and perhaps doing the
"instant photo printing" trick. But with
costume_con coming up, and not all of my
preparations ready for that yet, I decided I'd need to fly. I booked my tickets Friday, flew out
Saturday morning, rented a car (I'm never renting from Budget at Phoenix again) and stayed long
enough to see everyone and get a bite of cake. Home again Saturday night. Sunday, recover, and
think about the Costume-Con Photography
Office I'd be running in a few days and work on the design of my photo-accumulating
software to use there.
This
unbreakable commitment to the wedding meant that I sadly had to miss
the
Grilled Cheese Invitational.
Fortunately,
ala_mokita went, and took pictures (right).
And he wrote it up, too!
This year the event was held at Griffith Park and was sponsored by Kraft Cheese.
Oh, and today's topic subject/lyric comes from Sleeping Beauty, the Disney classic that I saw with Cathi at OCC when we were young. And they played the waltz at the wedding. Take good care of her, Joe.
