Tiffany Thomas and the Tres Leches cake. Pacific Media Expo 4 photos are now online. The photo of [livejournal.com profile] neo_serenity is from dinner afterwards.

I went to PMX to promote Anime Los Angeles with eight or nine friends... )

Ate at Dinah's once with [livejournal.com profile] collency (yay!) and at Cozymel's twice, which gave me the chance to have their Chicken Mole Enchiladas twice. Nom nom nom... On the second dinner, Sunday night, there was five of us, and at the end of it all we shared their Los Pequeños dessert sampler: margarita cheesecake, banana pudding, flan, key lime pie, and tres leches cake. (Bonus points if you can figure out which one I had without peeking at the photos...)

Indy report so far: Got here. Been hanging out at a design firm that used to be part of Bell Labs, so their office is decorated with phone equipment. They have a red British phone booth, but no blue police call box. Found some strange stains on two of my shirts -- something dripped on my duffle bag in transit -- so they're down at the cleaners; I'm glad I packed spares. Tomorrow I'm wearing the black with flamingos shirt.

I've had some good meals, including at Charleston's and at The Usual Suspects (down in the Broad Ripple area, just north of the college) but the smoke from the bar was too much so we went around the corner to Ambrosia and had tira misu, peach sorbet, and tartuffo. (There's just two of us -- me and Mary Jo -- but from time to time we max-out the expense account meal allotment w/ extra desserts.)

Tonight was The Cheesecake Factory at Keystone Crossing -- a "Simon" property. Just as if I were home at Brea Mall. Last night was Loon Lake Lodge, which we'll repeat for lunch Friday so I can get some photos of the animatronic bear and the other decorations. I wouldn't say it's a convincing "you're in a hunting lodge" motif, but it would be perfect at Downtown Disney or as a sit-down restaurant in Critter Country (fka Bear Country) at D-L. Give Rainforest Cafe a run for the money, I say. We had the steaks... The trick is to eat hardly any breakfast or lunch (or at least, not to pay hardly anything) so you can use most of your $50/day on dinner...

Indianapolis is quite the place to watch the weather, as it changes every day. Tuesday was nice, sunny, almost warm out. (Warm by local standards, though.) Today it started getting really cold, and they say it'll probably snow tomorrow. I'm still in Indy for one more night, but 24 hours from now I'll be in Kentucky at SugoiCon, which is run by Ohio fans. I'm taking [livejournal.com profile] animelosangeles postcards but I don't expect to convince anyone -- Ohayocon will have their last big push there, and they're right next door in Ohio on the same weekend as Animé Los Angeles -- but it'll be interesting to see how things are run there. Maybe I'll learn something new.

Unresolved quest: To find a Dunkin Donuts location. "Miracle Restaurant Group" is supposed to have opened up two or three Indy locations by now, so wish me luck! They're on the north side, near the top of the I-465 loop, which is basically where I'm staying. Maybe I'll go out and look after I've packed the car.
